Esa-Pekka Salonen, Principal Conductor, makes his debut with Schoenberg's "Glee Songs"! First appearance in Schoenberg's "Gleis Songs"!　The "Philharmonia Orchestra Series" is a collaboration between the British label Signum Classics and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Since its inception, the series has featured major conductors such as Honorary Conductor Dohnányi, Principal Guest Conductor Mackerras, Laureate Conductor Ashkenazy, and Sir Andreu Davis, with the current Principal Conductor, Esa-Pekka Salonen, finally making his debut! The program will be Schoenberg's early epic work, "Glee Song"!　Salonen took over the baton from Dohnányi and became Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Philharmonia Orchestra in the 2008/2009 season. His fearless selection of Schoenberg's "Glee Songs" for his first recording as Chief Conductor is a testament to his great trust in the Philharmonia Orchestra and his absolute confidence in its performance! The "Glee Song" was performed as the opening concert of the concert series "The City of Dreams, Vienna 1900-1935", which Salonen announced immediately after assuming the position of Chief Conductor, and received great acclaim from the British media after the concert.
