Description:
The Berlin Philharmonic and Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko present a boxed set of Shostakovich's Symphonies Nos. 8, 9, and 10, with Kirill Petrenko's inaugural performance as Chief Conductor in August 2019, marking the beginning of a new era for the Berlin Philharmonic. Petrenko, born in 1972, made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2006. Since then, he has delivered dazzling and overwhelming performances and was chosen to succeed Sir Simon Rattle in the summer of 2015. Both discs feature Petrenko's important repertoire, including symphonies that are cornerstones of the concert repertoire by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, as well as works by 20th century composers such as Franz Schmidt and Rudi Stephan, who have not received their due recognition in our time. This is the second box set following the "First Edition" (KKC-9600/6), which contains Petrenko's important repertoire, including symphonic works and works by 20th century composers such as Franz Schmidt and Rudi Stefan, who have not received due recognition in our time. This set was recorded during the pandemic of the new coronavirus. (C)RS
