Kathy Kuraray, a diva with a whispery voice. She has created a wonderful "Pop Flamenco" album with young Roma musicians! In the late 1980s and 90s, during the "Shibuya-kei" boom, Kathy Kuraray was respected by many artists such as Kahimi Karie. This is her long-awaited original album, her first since her February 2018 release. In recent years, Cathy has lived in Barcelona, Spain, where she has been described by local media as a pioneer of the "pop flamenco" sound, a fusion of flamenco and pop music. As a teenager, Cathy was the tenth daughter of a large Roma family to be welcomed into the family when she was a lifelong solitary. This influenced her life in general, and her life with the Roma, which was always full of music, led her to learn to play the guitar and various other instruments, and even to compose music. About the film, Cathy says, "My voice is very French, in the vein of Françoise Hardy or Jane Birkin. But my life is more Roma.What is expressed in this album is a fusion of two worlds that are musically far apart," he said. He continues, "The Romanticism inside of me was alive and kicking during the making of this album. I have been dreaming of creating a sound, a fusion of pop and Roma music (mainly flamenco), and this album reflects me more than ever. With this album, I have been able to fully express the half of my life that is my bond with Roma people, who have encouraged and affirmed me since I was a teenager," she says. This work is truly a milestone for the musician Kathy Klare, and a magnificent flowering of her one-of-a-kind "pop flamenco" sound world.
