Limited edition red colour vinyl.
As with all of Barry Adamson's albums, Stranger on the Sofa is eclectic, dabbling in whatever had struck his fancy on a given day. What is different is that despite the foreboding title and the frankly distressing opening track "Here in the Hole" this is an album with much less of the pervasive dread and misanthropy that characterises most of his work. "The Long Way Back Again" is a fairly content folk-rock tune and the electronic elements of the album are less dark ambient and more raver candy.
It seems that Adamson set out to do a pop album, and the finest song on the album ("You Sold Your Dreams") appears to be a commentary on just that, with its lines slyly cribbed from Justin Timberlake and OutKast.
