Margarita Witch Cult captured lightning in a bottle with their 2023 debut - a blink and you'll miss it behemoth that saw the band thrash and burn through Europe and the UK, picking up legions of fans and touring with the likes of Cancer Bats, Monster Magnet and Nebula.

Ratcheting up everything from the debut proves a formula for success for MWC. Riffs are fuzzier, the hooks and choruses even stickier, and the energy is still as vibrant as it was on the debut.

"Witches Candle" is among favourites on the new album. There's a bass break toward the end of it that turns into a double tracked harmonising guitar solo that gave me cool King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard metal-era vibes.

"The Fool" does Queens of the Stone Age better than Queens of the Stone Age since Queens of the Stone Age released Queens of the Stone Age. And what a gloriously golden stone age it is! It's weird robot rock with off kilter horns and paranoid lyrics.
