When a slipping or worn drive belt throws off your CNC router's axis positioning or causes layer shifts in your 3D prints, the entire job is ruined. Machinists, makers, and automation engineers who depend on repeatable, backlash-free motion need a closed loop timing belt they can trust. The DA-XL double sided tooth timing belt is engineered for exactly these demanding applications.
Each belt is a single closed loop in the XL profile (5.08mm / 0.200" pitch), available in models from 180DXL (18.0" / ≈457mm pitch circumference) through 390DXL (39.0" / ≈991mm pitch circumference). Belt width options are 10mm (≈3/8") and 15mm (≈19/32"). The double-sided (DA) tooth profile means teeth are cut on both the inner and outer faces of the belt, enabling serpentine and dual-drive configurations that a single-sided belt cannot support. Construction is rubber with a reinforcing cord core for dimensional stability under tension.
Typical use cases include CNC router X/Y axis drives, laser cutter gantry systems, desktop FDM 3D printer motion systems, and light industrial conveyor or indexing applications where an XL-profile closed loop timing belt for CNC is required.

The DXL model number represents the belt's pitch circumference in tenths of an inch. For example, 180DXL has a pitch circumference of 18.0" (≈457mm). To find your size: measure your existing belt's outer circumference, or count the number of teeth and multiply by the XL pitch (5.08mm / 0.200" per tooth). When in doubt, size up slightly to avoid over-tensioning your drive system.
XL-profile timing belts have a standard pitch of 5.08mm (0.200"). This is one of the most widely used pitches in CNC routers, laser cutters, and desktop 3D printers, and is compatible with any XL-profile pulley or sprocket regardless of manufacturer.
XL-profile rubber timing belts are generally rated for light-to-medium duty power transmission. For CNC routers and 3D printers, the 10mm width is typically sufficient for standard axis drives. The 15mm width provides greater load capacity and is better suited for heavier gantry systems. Contact us if you need specific tensile load data for your application.
This belt is constructed from rubber with a reinforcing cord core, which generally performs well in typical indoor workshop conditions including moderate humidity. For prolonged outdoor exposure or chemically aggressive environments, a polyurethane (PU) timing belt may be more appropriate. Contact us to confirm suitability for your specific conditions.
Double-sided (DA) timing belts are designed for serpentine drive systems where the belt must engage pulleys on both its inner and outer faces. If your machine uses a straightforward single-sided drive path, a standard XL closed loop belt will work. Choose the DA-XL when your drive system requires engagement on both sides of the belt simultaneously.
This belt is compatible with any standard XL-profile timing pulley with a 5.08mm (0.200") pitch. Both 10mm and 15mm belt widths require pulleys with a matching or wider face width. XL pulleys are widely available from automation and motion control suppliers and are used across CNC, robotics, and light industrial equipment.
Choose 10mm for standard desktop CNC machines, 3D printers, and light-duty axis drives where the OEM specification calls for a 3/8" wide belt. Choose 15mm when your system requires higher torque transmission, heavier moving masses, or when the machine's pulley face width is 15mm. Always match the belt width to your existing pulley face width to avoid tracking issues.
