X-Men Annual #3, written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by George Pérez, features the X-Men battling Arkon, a barbarian from the alternate dimension of Polemachus. Arkon comes to Earth seeking the aid of Thor, but when he learns that Thor is away, he turns to the X-Men. The X-Men are reluctant to help Arkon, but they eventually agree after he promises to help them save Storm from the clutches of the Imperions, a race of aliens who have kidnapped her. The X-Men and Arkon travel to Polemachus, where they battle the Imperions and rescue Storm. In the end, Arkon returns to Polemachus with Storm, and the X-Men return to Earth.
