Georges Pretre
Description:
Georges Prêtre's Beethoven Masterpieces 2nd Symphony + "Eroica" live on September 12, 2007* The prestigious Conservatory of St. Cecilia in Rome, known as the oldest music conservatory in the world, was founded in 1584 by Gregory VIII, which means that it was founded during the Warring States Period in Japan. It is said that the orchestra began to hold concerts in the current style in 1908. A part of it can be heard in the 8-disc set (SCO1937-2010) introduced last year. We have gone a step further and proposed the release of CDs from this valuable archive, and here we are pleased to present the first release of Beethoven by the maestro Prêtre. The Maestro, who also speaks fluent Italian, and the Orchestra of St. Cecilia of Rome have been performing together for over 50 years, and in 2012, a concert of the "9th" was planned to commemorate the occasion, but was sadly cancelled due to the Maestro's illness. However, in January 2014, St. Cecilia's return to the podium has just been announced. The performance of Praetor's "Eroica" with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan in 2010 was impressive for its speed, flexibility, and thrilling performance. This is one of the most talked-about recordings of the second half of 2013. Tobu Land System
