A striking set of twenty-four table knives with handles cast in the form of a swan - neck arched, wings folded, the body forming the grip of the knife. The swan motif was a favourite of the Aesthetic Movement period and these handles have all the confident decorative ambition of late Victorian silverwork.

The handles are silver-plated on a white metal base, the blades forged steel. The set comprises twelve dinner knives and twelve smaller knives in matching pattern, sufficient for a formal table of twelve.

The plating is in excellent condition with minimal wear, no breaks or repairs to the handles. The blades are clean and straight.

A set that makes a genuine statement on a dressed table and is entirely functional for use.
