Description:
The origin of the Canterbury scene and one of the most famous bands in the scene, the band's live performance at De Lanterneren in Rotterdam, Holland on October 26, 1973, is now available as a 2-CD set! This live recording was made around the same time as the release of the '73 album "Seven" and includes many songs from the '73 album "Six" in terms of music. Roy Babbington replaces bassist Hugh Hopper, who had participated until "Six", and the lineup includes John Mashall (dr), Karl Jenkins (ex-NUCLEUS) (sax/oboe/key), Mike Ratledge (electric piano. organ), The lineup features Mike Ratledge's unique organ and Karl Jenkins' odd-time riffs, creating a unique and incandescent jazz-rock sound unique to this period of time. The band also plays "Hazard Profile" from the '75 album "Bundles", which shows a glimpse of the musicality that would lead to the band's later works. This is a valuable and important live recording for SoftMachine and Canterbury fans.
