Duran Duran
Description:
Duran Duran is a pop legend who has been creating new "pop" music since the 80's, always making use of cutting-edge art and the latest technology. The 13th album, produced by Mark Ronson, was released in 2010 and is now reissued on CD and analog LP. Duran Duran, a pop legend who has been creating new "pop" music using cutting-edge art and the latest technology since the 1980s, ignited the New Romantic movement in the 1980s and has sold over 80 million records, 18 U.S. chart-topping singles and a UK Top 30 hit. The album released in the 2000s is being reissued on CD and analog LP as a double vinyl set. Formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England, the band sparked the New Romantic movement in the 1980s and became one of the leading bands of that movement. The band's good looks and the compelling stylishness of its members, all of whom were art school graduates, won them a large following not only in their native England but also in Japan, where the MTV boom of the time was gaining momentum. The band's name is based on the villain "Dr. Durand-Durand" in the 1968 science fiction film "Barbarella" starring Jane Fonda. The first album, "Duran Duran," reached No. 3 on the U.K. album chart. Subsequent singles such as "Gravure no Bijoujo" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" became hits, and in 1982, their second album "Rio" was released. In 1983, they released their third album, "Seven & The Racked Tiger" (#1 in the U.K. and #8 in the U.S.), and in 1984, the single "The Reflex" became the first single to reach #1 on the U.S. singles chart (it also reached #1 in the U.K.). In 1985, the band members' side projects such as Power Station and Arcadia became popular, and the single "007: Beautiful Prey" reached No. 1 on the U.S. Singles Chart. In 1997, the band returned to the scene with the hit singles "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone" from the album "Duran Duran (The Wedding Album)" released in 1993, In 1997, the band entered another period of stagnation when original member John Taylor left the band.In 2001, the five original members went on a world tour and made a big splash, releasing the album "Astronaut" in 2004 and the album "All You Need Is Now" with Mark Ronson as producer in 2010; in March 2015, He signed with Warner Bros. and released the studio album "Paper Gods" in September with Chic's Nile Rodgers and Mark Ronson as producers, and in 2017 he performed at the Budokan for the first time since 2003's THE REUNION tour.
