Description:
Based on the New Critical Revision, Hareheim's production of "The Tales of Hoffmann. Hoffmann's love story that sublimates his past experiences with women into an art form!A video of "The Tales of Hoffmann" directed by Stefan Hareheim, based on the New Critical Revision of "Kay and Keck," performed at the 2015 Bregenz Festival. Offenbach was a cellist in the mid-19th century before founding the Buch Parisien, where he established his own genre of French operetta. The unfinished opera "The Tales of Hoffmann" was published in 2005 in a new critical revision of "Kay and Keck" by musicologists Michael Kay and Jean-Christophe Keck, and opportunities for its performance have increased in recent years. Based on the novel by E.T.A. Hoffmann, the opera features Hoffmann himself as the main character and his love affair with four women. This production also uses this new critical revision, and the performance attracted attention for how Stefan Hareheim, a currently popular Norwegian director who also performs at the Bayreuth Festival, interpreted this work.
