Designed with sustainability in mind, we introduce to you the Komo Mio Eco!  This grain mill combines the innovative design and high performance quality of the KomoMio. It is manufactured with both wood and sustainably recycled Arboblend®, paired with a new hopper made of 100% cork material.

The 100% cork hopper is the defining feature of this model, both in design and functionality. Did you know that cork is able to be extracted from the bark of the cork oak tree without cutting down the tree? It is also biodegradable and can be reused, making it an incredibly sustainable material long term. Another advantage of cork is its natural cushioning ability, as it reduces the noise and vibrations that can occur when processing grain. It is also naturally antibacterial and mildew resistant, which is an added bonus when processing food.

Most types of grains can be ground with the KoMo MIO Eco mill including soft or hard wheat, oat groats (dehulled oats), triticale, kamut, spelt, buckwheat, barley, rye, teff, quinoa, sorghum. It isn't suitable for corn, rice, amaranth, millet, herbs, oilseeds like flax or sesame, or fibrous materials.

If you want to grind oat groats open the stones about five clicks (or so) wider than you would for a hard grain like wheat, otherwise the soft oat flour will fill the stones' furrows and in-feeding will stop. Opening the stones further will give you a cereal grind for porridge, or coarser yet for cracked oats, similar to steel-cut.

For home use: The KoMo MIO Eco grain mill is intended for home use and milling quantities appropriate for normal family needs. It is not designed for commercial use in which large quantities of grains are to be ground.
