Created by longtime Truro resident Martha Magane, these rugs are crafted from old jeans, blankets, sweaters, tablecloths—whatever the artist can find that works for her designs. She sews layers of various textiles on the bias to a denim backing, then cuts between her stitching. After piecing together a rug, she hand washes and scrubs it to raise the nap, creating a chenille from the various fabrics.

These rugs are all mixed materials and can be laundered with front-loader washing machine and drier on low. Because Martha has a limited supply of the fabrics she uses, each rug is a one-of-a-kind and will never be duplicated.
