The 2016 Riesling Zallah Ranch is the first vintage of Riesling from Bob Cabral Wines. Grapes come from the Yakima Valley in Washington, although the label carries an "American" designation because it was fermented in California. The palate is powerful and textural—it was fermented and matured in concrete and has 5.9 grams per liter residual sugar—yet very refreshing, with a balance of zesty, energetic acidity and concentrated candied citrus flavors. Its petrol scents unfurl to lime peel, green herbs, apricot, peach and citrus blossom as it airs in the glass, and it has a very long, fragrant finish.
