*what is gold filled?
Gold Filled Jewelry consists of 2-3 layers of solid gold (bonded or pressed) with other metals (generally jewelers brass). These layers of solid gold can have different karatage (10K, 14K, 18K and 24K). Gold filled jewelry is a typically a better alternative to gold plated jewelry. Gold filled jewelry by law requires a minimum of 5% gold by volume, while plating is 05%. Gold Filled is a much heavier layer of gold. It won’t tarnish and it’s much more durable than gold plated jewelry. It will not chip or scratch like plated jewelry. However, after about 15-25 years, you can begin to see some slight fading of the color. 14k Gold filled jewelry is tolerated in the same way as 14k gold for sensitive skin.

**Opal triplets are made with genuine opal, sandwiched between a layer of very hard stone (usually ironstone) and capped with a clear quartz for both durability and beauty. These are scratch resistant, and more durable than a wholly "natural" unprotected opal. While occasional wetnes os fine, triplets should not be submerged for long periods.

I use jewelry-grade clear resin, which prevents the flowers, feathers and leaves from fading once they are encased. All silver jewelry is hand finished, fired, patinaed (occasionally) and polished.
