Excellent oil on canvas painting of card players by Charles Thomas Bale, signed by monogram T.C. Bale.

Charles Thomas Bale was a still life painter who worked in London during the second half of the 19th century. Little is known of the artist's life, except that he lived at 9 Poland Street in London in 1872. Records show that he exhibited his paintings between the years 1866 and 1890 but there is no official note of the date of his death.
