Variety is the keynote in this issue of The Phantom!

Inside you will find the new daily and the new Sunday adventures, plus an intriguing Lee Falk-Wilson McCoy mini-classic from way, way back in 1952-53.

The most fascinating of the three stories is the Sunday—The Shadows of Rune Noble—which is the work of regular writer Tony DePaul and for reasons explained on the title page, three different artists!

For the first time in the long history of Lee Falk’s creation, all three, the late Eduardo Barreto, Paul Ryan and Terry Beatty, rightly receive credits.

(For Those Who Just Came In, Eduardo died suddenly not long after starting to illustrate the adventure. Paul Ryan, who had retired from drawing the Sunday story to concentrate on the daily, was rushed back into the chair for a brief time and finally relieved by new Phantom artist Terry Beatty, who is now the full-time Sunday Phantom artist.)

Study their collective work carefully. While there are understandably, some subtle early style changes, Ryan and Beatty worked some minor miracles to achieve the transitions—a tribute to their towering professional standards.
