A steady retrieve gets the crank working, but the better bites often come when it deflects off rock, timber, weed, or hard bottom.

If it touches cover, pause briefly and let it float up before winding again.

It is strongest around banks, ledges, weed edges, riprap, timber, ponds, canals, and bass-style cover where fish react to a crankbait entering their space.

It is not the tool for deep open water unless the running depth matches the fish.
