The former student of Joseph Beuys and member of nascent lineups of Tangerine Dream
and Kluster spent the 70s carving his own path between the electronic end of
Krautrock and the industrial end of avant garde, creating innovative works of
art that stand the test of time. On this 1980 ep, however, he mixes in a disco
sound, mutating the dreamy, pulsing beats of Kraftwerk's "Trans Europe
Express" into a hellish, dark dancefloor treat that predates the heavy techno
of labels like MacKenzie and Planet Core Productions by more than a decade. If you're into Holger Czukay and Conny Plank's "Les Vampyrettes", released a little later in 1980, than this is the record for you.
