About Warring States Beads:

Warring States Beads, or "戦国玉" (Warring States Beads), refer to the glass beads crafted during the Warring States period (5th to 3rd century BCE) before the unification of China by the Qin Dynasty. The earliest ancient Chinese glass was discovered in Henan Province, dating back to the 11th to 8th century BCE. However, it was not until the Warring States period that glass products began to be widely circulated.

Initially, Warring States Beads were predominantly made from faience, a ceramic material decorated with glass motifs. Later, entirely glass beads became more common. Many of these beads feature patterns known as "Seven Star Beads" or "貼眼玉" (Eye Beads), characterized by their dotted designs.

Although much of the glass-making technology and design elements were influenced by Western Asia, including Roman glass, the material composition of ancient Chinese glass, including Warring States Beads, is distinct. This difference underscores the advanced glass-making techniques of ancient China.
