This snake pin measures 4. 5 inches long. It is plated gold with black enamel diamond shapes and clear rhinestones going down his entire body. He also has clear rhinestone eyes. It closes with a 1. 5 inch safety clasp which is still functional.

It was probably made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
