Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to Etched Carnelian, created by baking natural dyes onto agate to form intricate designs. These beads are believed to date back to around the 1st to 6th century AD. Despite many mysteries surrounding the dyes used in the baking process, Dzi Beads are highly valued antiques, mainly found in Tibet but also in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Each pattern, especially the circular "eye" motifs, holds different meanings and are highly sought after. In Tibet, they are considered talismans for wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations as precious adornments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are called "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads), and many replicas made with similar techniques are also available. However, genuine ancient Dzi Beads remain incredibly rare and valuable.
