Vintage 60s Adolfo Skirt Suit Cream Blue Red Knit in Chanel Style

Classic midcentury skirt suit very much inspired by the Chanel boucle suits very popular in the early 60s. The CENTRAL image of the collaged pic is the Adolfo suit that is for sale. It is nestled between two actual Chanel pieces (left from an Augusta Auction and the right from Metropolitan Museum's collection) which shows you the incredible comparison) !
This Adolfo two-piece is cut out of a soft, slightly boucle knit that feels like a blend of natural and man made fabrics, and with stretch!
Blazer is collarless with gold, lion's head buttons down the front for closure. Matching, decorative buttons appear at the sleeve cuffs as well. The neckline, the sleeve cuffs, the hem, and the double row of pockets at the hip fronts all feature handknit red and navy blue trim. Unlined. The midi skirt is high waisted with an elastic seam (yeah!) and a faux wrap style that gives the illusion of a front panel covering the thighs across from right to left. It is delineated in more red and blue trim, as is the hem. There is a slit at the bottom left of the skirt. Unlined.
Soft and comfortable and VERY 60s haute couture by a master designer clearly inspired by the great Coco.
