Paint before final assembly. Masking and protecting seams during painting is much easier with individual panels. You'll get cleaner panel gaps and better coverage on mounting surfaces if you finish each piece separately, then bolt everything together once cured.

What surface prep is needed before painting?

Sand and prep the surface with your preferred grit before applying base coat and clear. The panels arrive ready for that step — no additional stripping or sealing required. Wipe clean with a tack cloth after sanding to remove all dust.

Will I need gap-filler tape or seam sealer between the panels and factory body lines?

Gap sealer is recommended where the new panels meet the original body, especially at the rocker transition and bumper corners. Standard automotive seam sealer applied after final assembly closes any minor gaps and prevents moisture intrusion.
