The 5.11 Tactical A.T.A.C. 2.0 8" Shield Boot is an 8-inch side-zip duty boot built for law enforcement, military, and public safety personnel who need certified protective footwear for extended, high-demand shifts. It meets ASTM F2413-17 M I/75 C/75 EH PR and CSA Z195-09 standards, covering impact resistance, compression resistance, puncture resistance, and electrical hazard protection. The 840D nylon and full-grain leather upper, combined with the 5.11 SlipStream waterproof and bloodborne pathogen membrane, keeps the construction mission-ready across wet, contaminated, and abrasive environments. Available in select sizes from US 7 through 15, with wide widths available in select sizes.
The A.T.A.C. 2.0 8" Shield carries the ASTM F2413-17 M I/75 C/75 EH PR rating — the ASTM standard for protective footwear covering impact (I/75), compression (C/75), electrical hazard (EH), and puncture resistance (PR). It also meets CSA Z195-09, the Canadian standard certifying performance for compression, cutting, abrasion, and electrical discharge protection.
The ASTM/CSA CARBON-TAC protective toe provides the impact and compression resistance ratings. The ASTM/CSA puncture-resistant board sits underfoot to block penetration from below. The 5.11 SlipStream waterproof and bloodborne pathogen membrane adds a fluid barrier rated for both environmental moisture and occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
The upper pairs 840D nylon high-abrasion panels with a full-grain leather toe for polishable, professional appearance that holds up to repeated cleaning and inspection. The YKK side zipper allows fast donning and doffing without sacrificing ankle support. Strobel construction wraps the lasting board directly into the boot structure, producing a more flexible and comfortable platform than traditional board-lasted builds.
An Achilles heel flex zone is cut into the rear collar to increase range of motion at the ankle without reducing lateral support. The new Ortholite ankle zone adds targeted cushioning at the heel collar for improved heel lock and reduced slip inside the boot during dynamic movement.
A full-length dual-durometer Ortholite footbed runs the length of the boot. The dual-durometer construction uses two foam densities — a softer zone for cushioning and a firmer zone for support — to manage load across a full shift. Ortholite's open-cell foam structure promotes airflow and moisture management, keeping feet dry under sustained wear.
The A.T.A.C. midsole and outsole incorporate the 5.11 Shock Mitigation System to absorb impact energy on hard surfaces. The outsole carries a slip-resistant tread pattern for traction on wet and uneven surfaces.
The A.T.A.C. 2.0 8" Shield runs in US men's sizing from 7 through 15. Select styles are available in wide width. A US-to-UK-to-EU conversion chart is available on the product page. If you need fit confirmation for a wide-width size or a size near the upper end of the range, contact us before ordering.
It means the boot meets the ASTM standard for protective footwear across four hazard categories: I/75 impact resistance (75 foot-pounds), C/75 compression resistance (75 foot-pounds), EH electrical hazard protection, and PR puncture resistance. These are independently assessed performance thresholds, not a general "safety toe" claim.
The CARBON-TAC toe is a carbon fiber composite protective toe that meets the same ASTM/CSA impact and compression ratings as steel but at a lower weight. It is also non-metallic, which means it does not conduct cold the way steel does and will not trigger metal detectors — relevant for officers who pass through security screening regularly.
SlipStream is a waterproof membrane that blocks liquid penetration from outside the boot. The BBP (bloodborne pathogen) designation adds a barrier rating specific to occupational exposure — relevant for law enforcement, EMS, and medical personnel who may encounter blood or bodily fluids on the job.
Yes. The full-length dual-durometer Ortholite footbed and the Shock Mitigation System midsole are both designed to manage impact and load across extended wear on hard floors and pavement. The Strobel construction also contributes to underfoot flex, reducing fatigue compared to rigid board-lasted platforms.
The 5.11 SlipStream membrane is integrated into the upper construction rather than relying on the external zipper seam for its seal. The zipper provides fast entry and exit; the membrane provides the waterproof barrier independently of the closure system.
The boot is available in US men's sizes 7 through 15. Wide widths are available in select sizes within that range. Contact us if you need to confirm wide-width availability for a specific size before placing your order.
