Description:
The first release in this new series is CARNEGIE HALL 1970, recorded live at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 4, 1970. Based on the original analog multi-track recording of the show and mixed by The Volume Dealers, a team consisting of Neil Young and Nico Borras, this album is a highly prized recording of Neil Young's memorable first appearance at Carnegie Hall. There were two performances at Carnegie Hall on December 4, 1970, the first on the 4th and the second at midnight. The second performance was recorded on a bootleg, but this is the first time the first performance was recorded live. The first performance was by far the better performance. The setlist for this date was superbly composed, featuring the most revered period of Neil Young's career. The band performed simple, stripped-down versions of "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere," "Down By The River," "Helpless," "Sugar Mountain," and "After The Goldrush" from the album that had just been released nine weeks prior to the show. After The Goldrush" from the album that had just been released 9 weeks prior to the show, as well as the poignant songs "Bad Fog of Loneliness", "Old Man" and "See The Sky About To Rain", all of which had not yet been released as sound recordings, were performed live, making this a live album filled with gems. It is a live album full of gems. (2/2)
