A charming 20th century English violin made in West Derby, Liverpool by Harold E. Perkins in 1951. Finished with an oil varnish of commendable depth in deep, earthy browns over an ochre ground, with tones of read hinted underneath for shading, and demonstrating a light craqueleur throughout. Clean work demonstrating a steady hand and several particularly fine details between the precision of the purfling, fluting of the f-holes, and large eye to the concentric volutes of the head. Robust, colorful, and clear voice.
